Doing multiple repetitive tasks quickly is one area where computers shine. When you have the need to rename multiple files there is no need to reach for a dedicated Batch Renaming application as the tool that you need is built in directly to the Finder. Check out our video below to find out more.
The steps
- Select the files you wish to rename.
- Right or control click on the files to reveal the contextual menu.
- Select Rename from the menu.
- Choose the configuration for your rename operation from the Rename Finder Items sheet.
- Commit your changes by clicking rename.
Quick-Tip
Remember when using the Name and Date method for multiple files each file will be given the same name. To maintain a unique filename MacOS will append an ascending number to the files.
