Shortcuts

Many people don't know that they can significantly speed up their workflow by keeping their hands on the keyboard. There are several keyboard shortcuts that make life quicker and easier. They work system wide, so no matter the application they will give you the same results. Below are a few of the most useful.

System-wide Shortcuts on MacOS

  • ⌘ + Q - Quit the current application
  • ⌘ + W - Close the current window
  • ⌘ + C - Copy
  • ⌘ + V - Paste
  • ⌘ + X - Cut
  • ⌘ + P - Print (even works direct from the finder)
  • ⌘ + Z - Undo
  • ⌘ + ⇥ (Tab) - Application switcher

Easily Find the Shortcut for a Menu Item

If you are interested in knowing if there is a shortcut available for a command you commonly use then take a look to it's right in the menu bar, if a shortcut is available it's listed there. The image below shows the File menu from Safari with the shortcuts listed to the right of each command.
